18. To Saint Sebastian Dear Commander at the Roman Emperor’s court, you chose to be a soldier of Christ and dared to spread faith in Jesus, the King of kings, for which you were condemned to die. Your body, however, proved a strong shield against which the executing arrows proved extremely weak. With full faith and confidence we continually call on you in times of pestilence, disease and persecution! Continue interceding for us so that we, like you who willingly gave your life to the Saviour, may also enter the army of Christ and, being loyal to him in life, be one with him in death. Amen.
