hope
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,And whose hope is the Lord.
Are there any among the idols of the nations that can cause rain?Or can the heavens give showers? Are You not He, O Lord our God?Therefore we will wait for You,Since You have made all these.
Give glory to the Lord your GodBefore He causes darkness,And before your feet stumbleOn the dark mountains,And while you are looking for light,He turns it into the shadow of deathAnd makes it dense darkness.
Withhold your foot from being unshod, and your throat from thirst. But you said, ‘There is no hope. No! For I have loved aliens, and after them I will go.’
Truly, in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills,And from the multitude of mountains;Truly, in the Lord our GodIs the salvation of Israel.
O Lord, the hope of Israel,All who forsake You shall be ashamed.“Those who depart from MeShall be written in the earth,Because they have forsaken the Lord,The fountain of living waters.”
O the Hope of Israel, his Savior in time of trouble,Why should You be like a stranger in the land,And like a traveler who turns aside to tarry for a night?
And they said, “That is hopeless! So we will walk according to our own plans, and we will every one obey the dictates of his evil heart.”
Do not be a terror to me;You are my hope in the day of doom.
There is hope in your future, says the Lord,That your children shall come back to their own border.
